Girifalco Online is the creature of some Girifalco youngsters, some of whom, for work or study reasons, live out of the town.

It does not mean that this website was born only out of nostalgia for the missed home town (home-sweet-home style)… at the end the contacts with friends and relatives would remain all the same: we have abundance of telephone sets today! Rather, this site aims at representing a virtual place for all sorts of discussion, debate, amusement.

It represents, then, the will to be involved in a different and less obvious way in our town’s life.
The forum organization matches this intention. Each of its sections, in fact, is named out of a pertinent and symbolic location in Girifalco.
So you’ll find the ”political forum” in the “potheddha” section, being the “potheddha” (historically, the location of a public and rough fountain where farmers used to bring their cattle for water) the actual modern centre of the town. At the “potheddha” you can easily find groups of people involved in amicable discussions about local and national political facts.
A place for more generic and various discussions is “’U corzu”, that is the “main street" of the town, where people of all ages spend most of their free time, with endless strolling from one end to the other.
“’U Manicomu”, Girifalcese translation of “mental asylum”, recalls the institution once present in Girifalco. It is obviously the place for jokes of various kinds. Although the mental asylum has been abolished by law since three decades ago, “U Manicomu” is the most typical place of Girifalco: just think, because of it Girifalco is famous in all South Italy as the “town of the mads”.
However there is more than just the “forum”. A blog will be inserted, at site-staff care.
It intends to become a dashboard for information on local (but also national and international) events. Probably it will be the real heart of the site and the source of most discussion in the forum section.

Finally the radioweb, the most thrilling and funny challenge. Some of the staff will try to tranform themselves in DJ, each with his/her own radio program, his/her fantasy ready to communicate emotions or just taste for good music.
What else? No more words… only everybody’s and averydays work only will keep this site growing and improving.
